Team Registration & Accessing Your Team Page
Before you can edit your team’s page, your team must register with ncwsa.com and gain editing privileges for the team page. We prefer you register a team email that is handed down, but that is not required because some teams may not have that type of email set up.
- Go to www.ncwsa.com, scroll to bottom
- If you are reading this on ncwsa.com, just scroll down.
- If you are on a desktop or laptop, login options may show up in the right sidebar.
- Click one of the social logins, check for confirmation email (check spam folder too).
- Email marketing@thencwsa.org, with name and email of registration.
- We will generate a template page and assign the team as page author.
- Once the page is generated and author assigned, you will see an edit button on the page, and you can modify it to your heart’s content.
- Once the page content is complete, email us again, and we will link the team page on our teams list! You may follow links on teams list to see completed examples from other teams.
Editing Your Team Page
This remainder of this page is meant as a guide to the sections included in the template for an NCWSA team page. Editing your page is simple, akin to editing a Google document.
- Go to your page URL, then click the edit option if you are logged in.
- If you aren’t logged in, when on your team’s page choose one of the login options from the side or bottom dashboard.
- Only the author can edit the team page, and the author is usually set to the team’s account they registered with NCWSA.com. If a team does not have a team email, then the President or Captain is usually set as the author unless the team notifies us via email to modify the owner of the page.
Top Banner
Two choices exist for the top banner:
- Set an image, using the “Featured Image” option when editing your page.
- You may use any image, but the image shown in the banner will be resized and framed to fit the 750×215 banner image size.
- Social media sharing would prefer 1200×628 and then the center portion of 1200×315 will be shown on the website as the feature image.
- Set a video, using the “Featured Video” selection when editing your page.
- The featured video must be hosted on YouTube.
- An example of an article that uses the featured video option can be seen here.
School Name
- This will automatically show up at the top of your page, it is the page name set by the NCWSA website administration team. It is simply your full school name.
Team Picture
- We highly suggest including a Team Picture at the top of your page, as shown in the example template
- When editing the page, you will be able to upload media to add to your page.
- If the top banner is a team picture, you could use this portion to include a YouTube video.
- When adding media, select “Insert from URL” and paste the YouTube video URL into the box
Contact Info & Board
- This section varies by team, but we suggest at least the following information.
- Team President (highest ranking officer)
- Team email contact
- Location of the school
- Some teams will highlight specific additional officers or list the entire set of officers.
Social Media
- Simple, link to all your social media accounts.
- We encourage use of social media to help keep alumni and others in contact with your team.
- Not every team uses social media, or some pick specific ones, but social media can help grow your team’s external exposure.
- If your team actively maintains its own website, you may link it here and could forgo the remainder of the sections.
Recent News
To insert recent news on to your page, use a “short code” block and simply copy & paste one of the two following codes to anywhere within the visual editor when editing your page. If you wish to add a heading prior, such as “Recent News”, you will need to add it yourself.
[crp]
[crp limit="6"]
The news stories are pulled from a list of news stories that contained your team as a WordPress tag when the story was published. Using the short code with the “limit” property will change the number of stories displayed to whatever number the limit is set to, but recent stories are capped to no more than 365 days in the past. All team news submissions should contain your team tag, and many recaps and other stories do as well.
