National Collegiate Water Ski Association
Midwest Regionals are in and the 5 of the 23 team field is set! Huge congrats to Kansas University who qualified automatically for the Division I nationals by winning regionals. Michigan State was close behind in second, followed by Ohio State, Iowa State, University of Cincinnati and University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. The Midwest also sent University of Wisconsin-Madison, Grand Valley State, and University of Michigan to the Wildcard tournament. Congrats to all the qualifiers and even more good luck to the wildcard teams as we find out who qualifies for the remaining spots to Louisiana!

UC Davis wins Fall Opener
The Western Region opened its season with a tournament at Chico State.
UC Davis had a dominant showing with all but 2 of their team qualifying scores in the top 10, with their team captains Tyler Schandra, and Tara Puccioni leading the way with a first place overall finish, and PB's to start the season.
Chico St., the hosting school, also had a strong showing with a 2nd place team finish. Freshman, Samantha Miller, led the way with a tie for 1st in Slalom, and a 2nd place overall finish.
The Western Region also welcomed it's first new team in 6 years. Cory Johnson over last spring and summer put together a full team at Sierra Nevada College, in the Reno, NV area, and brought them in force. With a 5th place finish, they are not out of the conversation when it comes to who will qualify for Nationals next weekend.
UCLA will host the Western Regional Championships next weekend, where ASU will look to improve its 3rd place finish to continue its 15 year dominance of the region. SDSU, last year's hosts, are also looking to qualify with the addition of their freshmen recruits.

The Eastern Regional set its qualifiers for Nationals. The Crimson Tide Water Ski team of the University of Alabama narrowly defeated Florida Southern College for the automatic qualifier for Division I Nationals. Rollins College, Clemson, and Auburn University round out the top 5. From Regionals, the Eastern Region sends University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, University of Georgia, and Kennisaw State College to the Wildcard tournament.

Lake Purdue Spring Tournament
The Midwest Region opened up its tournament season down south in Hillsboro, Tennesse at Lake Grace. The combined team results went to University of Cincinnati, followed by Miami of Ohio and Ohio State University.

Auburn Spring Tournament

The Eastern Region opened its Spring 2014 season with a tournament at Faith Lake in Shorter, Alabama hosted by Auburn University's Water Ski Team. The University of Alabama Crimson Tide won the tournament's combined teams title, followed by Clemson and Auburn.
The men's team competition heated up with Paul Kelig sealing the win with a score of 2 buoys at 35' Off over Alabama's Men's Team. Men's Tricks was a tough competition with Alabama's Adam Reed scoring 2550 for the lead.
The women's competion continued with Kaityln Ross of East Carolina University winning slalom with a score of 4 buoys at 22' Off. The Women's Tricks title went to Maria Gersaikova with a score of 1550.

The Western Region opened its Spring 2014 season with a tournament at Bell Acqua in Rio Linda, CA hosted by the Bell Acqua Homeowner's Association. UC Davis managed to pull out the overall team victory, followed by Cal State Chico and UCLA.
Men's Individual were swept by Robert Morris of San Diego State University with a score of 3 at 38 off, 3360 in Tricks, and a jump score of 120 feet. On the women's side, Western Washington's Jayne Morris swept women's events with a s core of 2 at 32 off, 1690 in tricks, and a jump of 105 feet.
